Blood draw
Blood draws are part of the Shape Up! Kids and Adults protocols.
Clinical Biomarker Panels
A venous blood draw is collected by a certified phlebotomist after an overnight fast. The Shape Up! protocol measures 28 distinct biomarkers organized into functional diagnostic panels:
| Clinical Diagnostic Panel | Analyzed Biomarkers | Clinical Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Complete Blood Count (CBC) | Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, Platelet Count | Hematological status, oxygen transport capacity, and immune baseline |
| Glycemic & Metabolic Profile | Fasting Glucose, HbA1c (Glycated Hemoglobin), Fasting Insulin | Glucose homeostasis, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and metabolic syndrome risk |
| Lipid & Cardiovascular Panel | Total Cholesterol, High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL-C), Triglycerides | Atherogenic lipid distribution and cardiovascular risk stratification |
| Comprehensive Hepatic Panel | Alanine Transaminase (ALT), Albumin, Alkaline Phosphatase, GGT, Total Bilirubin, Total Protein | Liver enzymatic function, visceral adiposity correlates, and protein status |
| Renal & Electrolyte Balance | Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), Uric Acid, Sodium, Chloride, Carbon Dioxide ($\text{CO}_2$), Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus | Renal filtration efficiency, cellular hydration, and mineral balance |
| Pancreatic & Micronutrient | Serum Iron, Serum Amylase | Nutritional micronutrient reserves and digestive enzyme activity |
What to expect
A trained phlebotomist locates a vein, cleans the area with an alcohol pad, applies a tourniquet around your upper arm, and inserts the needle. Participants receive optional blood-marker reports following the procedure.
